Foodnet

Since 1985, Foodnet has taken on the charge to reduce food waste and provide for those in need through teams of volunteers from local churches and non-profit organizations. Foodnet provides mostly perishable food items such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and breads.

FoodBank of Lincoln

Since 1982, The FoodBank of Lincoln has served as a champion for our communities. Serving 16 counties in Southeast Nebraska (Polk, York, Fillmore, Thayer, Butler, Seward, Saline, Jefferson, Saunders, Lancaster, Gage, Otoe, Johnson, Pawnee, Nemaha and Richardson.) They provide a unique variety of services to help people in our community by making it easier to get food on our tables. Some of these services include:

The Salvation Army of Lincoln, Nebraska

The Salvation Army of Lincoln, Nebraska provides healthy foods through their pantry and hot meal services. 

The food pantry is open Tuesdays-Friday 12-3:30 p.m., with produce and bread distribution on Tuesdays & Fridays from 10-11 a.m.

Winter Night Watch is open from October through April at the F Street Community Center to provide hot meals and beverages as well as winter outwear. 

Pathway of Hope guides families with children 18 years and younger through crisis and instability through strengths-based casework such as financial counseling and planning, job training, referrals, and employment assistance, and assistance securing housing and childcare.

Material & Utility Assistance & Seasonal Services are here to serve low to no income individuals and families by providing household items, prescription medications, diapers, gas, clothing, laundromat vouchers, utilities and rent assistance, and funds for car and home repairs or medical expenses. Seasonal services include the Summer Fan Program, Back to School Backpack Program and Christmas and Thanksgiving Assistance.

Center for People

The Center for People offers a variety of services to aid our community by building upon the foundation of basic needs, career growth, and strong community involvement. Some of the services they offer include:

MyLink

The MyLink website and app provides a free, one-stop guide of participating cities' resources for people in need. This app makes it easy for families, case managers, and agencies to learn about, connect, and utilize services. 

MyLink works without a data plan or Wi-Fi. It is available to download for both Android and Apple phones.

People's City Mission

The People's City Mission is Lincoln's primary homeless shelter housing over 350 men, women, and children on average each day. PCM offers temporary and long-term housing options for women & families & men, and permanent supportive housing through the Curtis Center

Their Help Center, which opened in 1990, takes distributes community donations such as food, clothing, household items, furniture, toys, and personal care items to low-income families.

The PCM Medical Clinic, which opened in 2009, provides free medical, dental, chiropractic, and behavioral health care to low income Lincoln residence without medical insurance. 

PCM partners with local businesses and public sites to offer Safe Place site locations for youths in crisis access to immediate help and safety.
